Fostering Bonds Along Learning Programs

- I was enrolled in school and I made friends there
- I joined dance class and became friends with my entire batch!
- Made some friends in tutitions and colleges
- At my graphology institute, some more people added to my friends' circle and so on…

Well, what I mean to say is we don’t go out looking for friends or meaningful relationships. Life lands us in different places and situations and we naturally foster bonds with people who land with us in those places and situations.

Today I attended the graduation ceremony of a manager development program that I was looking after.

Post the certificate distribution and words of encouragement, there were refreshments for everyone.

It was heartening to see all 13 participants of the program enjoying their refreshments on a table that would typically accommodate 6 people. The banter, laughs and smiling faces were so inviting that I had to join their table!

Curious, I asked, “Did you guys know each other before the program?”
Some said, “No one!”, while some said “Just him and her”, pointing fingers.

I was amazed to see how these participants had bonded over just 4 weeks! They were cracking up on some funny workshop incidents, teasing each other in jest and casually bringing in a concept they had learnt, into their conversation. It was a treat to watch!

As learning partners, we see that in such journey programs, participants very often find accountability partners, project partners, learning buddies, etc. either by design or with the sheer magic of humaneness.

Today I felt pride thinking we had given them more than just frameworks or concepts to remember and apply.

Among other things, I am sure these participants took back an experience with them; and in it, some beautiful bonds, friendships and alliances were formed!
