Are you Harnessing the Collective Intelligence of your People?

When people come together for a task, they either form a group or a team.
The difference between the two is this:

-A group has individuals who are working towards personal goals and agendas.
-In a team, the individuals strive for one common goal and work towards it.

As I write this, there is a cliched quote that comes to my mind which says “There is no I in team”.

I beg to differ, a team consists of a bunch of individuals (I) that need to pull their weight, in the same direction the team (We) is headed. To be able to do this, it is important to find a sweet equilibrium between individual and team needs.

And that is the magic potion of the collective intelligence: ‘I + We’. It happens when the members feel, ‘I am who I am and we are in it together.’
