Why are the most essential skills in a person known as soft skills?
“Are you a soft skill-building organisation?”
Every time someone asks us this question, there is an internal voice that screams and shouts in all rebelliousness suggesting that we aren’t a ‘soft’ skill-building organisation.
Organisations look at skills as two ends of a spectrum.
Hard Skills——————————-Soft Skills
Hard Skills are the subject matter expertise that one needs to possess to excel at their role. The second is the soft skill that entails people management and leading teams.
These soft skills that people refer to are actually ‘humane’ skills which are the hardest to master.
One big validation of that statement is the fact that a lot of people have similar technical skills, but it is the ones with better humane skills that become excellent leaders.
Just because someone is excellent in finance and in the work that they do, they naturally won’t be good at leading teams and managing people. Like any skill, this can be taught and mastered with practice.
Hence, we together need to work towards bringing humaneness back into organisations :)
